Wellbeing

Welcome to SEMH – social, emotional & mental health. Having the passion to care, nurture & support young people overcome barriers to learning.

We envision that our SEMH curriculum will support students at Wingfield Academy, to develop their understanding of their own mental health, with the ability to recognise their emotions.

Our vision is that through a therapeutic approach we will provide our students with opportunities to understand how their emotions affect them, and those around them. We use a range of strategies that enable students to respond to challenging situations and within a range of contexts, so that they can develop, grow and thrive, making a positive contribution to society.

This section of the website supports the work of the school in:

  • Improving the wellbeing of students through equipping students and parents with knowledge, advice and support
  • Ensuring mental health problems are identified early and appropriate support is provided
  • Involving parents and students in the wellbeing provision that the academy offers

The Ethos

We envision that our SEMH curriculum will support students at Wingfield Academy, to develop their understanding of their own mental health, with the ability to recognise their emotions. Our vision is that through a therapeutic approach we will provide our students with opportunities to understand how their emotions affect them, and those around them. We use a range of strategies that enable students to respond to challenging situations and within a range of contexts, so that they can develop, grow and thrive, making a positive contribution to society. Through the support and guidance we offer, we aim to give students the skillset to be able to navigate their wellbeing and emotions, recognising what healthy mental health looks like.
