The Ministry of Chocolate visits Anston Greenlands

Carl Turner, a professional chocolatier, from the Ministry of Chocolate visited the children in Merlins and Ospreys last week.

The Ministry of Chocolate’s educational workshop took pupils on a fantastic journey where they discovered and explored the creation of chocolate:

they took part in a practical chocolate making session where they designed and made their very own chocolate product, they learned about the fascinating history and origins of chocolate, including the Mayans and Aztecs, they learned about how and where cacao is grown – the cocao harvesting process, and how chocolate is made, they were able to touch real cacao pods, real cocoa beans & tasting cacao nibs, they carried out sensory testing – using our five senses to understand chocolate and finally they learned about chocolate and health – the ‘secret recipes’ for dark, milk & white chocolate.
