Spells and Potions!

Merlins had the chance to dress up as their favourite Harry Potter character and spend the day at ‘Hogwarts’.

To start the day the children were sorted into House teams: Griffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin or Ravenclaw!   During the day the children had the chance to make potions and create magical food and drink.  To keep in true spirit of Hogwarts, the class made Butterbeer; this proved to be very popular.  Later in the day the children solved clues as part of a Marauder’s Trail.  The day ended with a feast!

During the term the children wrote magical poetry – The Magic Box, wrote instructions to make potions (some of these were pretty gruesome), took part in a Herbology lesson, read scary poems and stories, created their own 2D and 3D mythical creature, designed and made their own wand and wrote their own narrative based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Merlins had a very exciting term filled with fun-filled learning!
