Reading Update – New Book Exchange and You Said / We Did

New Book Exchange

Keep an eye out for our new parent, carer and staff book exchange! We invite grown-ups to take a book for free, any time you’re looking for your next read. Donations are welcome too, so think of us if you’ve just finished a great book!

The book exchange can usually be found in the reception area, next to the children’s book exchange that we’ve had for a while now. It will also make a few appearances outside, at the bottom of the ramp during drop-off.

You Said / We Did

Last year, we sent out a reading survey to gather views amongst our families. Thank you to everyone who took part! As a result of the survey, we’ve implemented some new things this year. Firstly, we’ve introduced some new reading rewards, with an increased focus on celebrating classes with the highest percentage of children reading outside school. We’re also continuing to ensure that all Parents’ Evening discussions and Records of Achievement include information about your child’s progress in reading. In addition to this, we always make sure staff are available on the door in the mornings so you’re able to have a quick chat about reading (or any other learning), or so that staff can pass on messages as appropriate. Of course, we’re also available on the phone or by email if this doesn’t work for you. Finally, we’ve re-introduced class workshops, which included information about reading in your child’s class.
