On Friday, the children in Merlins and Ospreys were introduced to their new topic for this term, which is ‘A Roman Re-enactment’. The children learned, through drama, about the legend of Romulus and Remus. They carried out a science investigation about the lack of toilet roll during the Roman times, and what the alternative was that they used in their communal toilets (which the children were fascinated about). The pupils learned about Roman mosaics, and then designed their own mosaic ready to create using small tiles.

During this term, the children will be learning about the Roman Empire, the Roman impact on Britain, as well as the life of a Roman soldier: a visit to Murton Park will help enhance the children’s learning further.
