Merlins and Ospreys’ new topic was launched on Friday, and what a lovely day we had! The children were introduced to the new topic by learning about prehistoric cave paintings that were discovered in Lascaux, France about 80 years ago. They created their own cave paintings based on modern life. Children were then given pieces of Stone Age ‘poo’ for them to dissect and analyse: they found evidence that Stone Age people ate fish, grains, leaves, stones and fruit. They also found it pretty disgusting!!
Later in the day, the children thought about what Stone Age people would have lived in, then went outside to gather natural materials in order to make small shelters.
The children enjoyed the day and are now eager to learn more about the Stone Age.
