On Friday, children from Merlins and Ospreys had a great opportunity to visit Dinnington Library and participate in an inspiring workshop led by disabled author and comedian, Benny Shakes. Benny Shakes, who is also the winner of the Edinburgh Fringe Disabled Champion Award 2023, and host of the hit touring game show Blue Badge Bunch.
Blue Badge Bunch, coined the ‘Disability Taskmaster’, is the show where each game represents a different disability. The show has toured the UK twice and was a hit with the children on Friday.
The workshop was both educational and engaging, shedding light on life with disabilities and raising awareness about cerebral palsy and autism. The children took part in interactive tasks designed to foster empathy and understanding, allowing them to experience the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. This hands-on learning encouraged thoughtful discussions and nurtured a more inclusive and compassionate mindset among the students.
