Wrens and Robins worked so hard in such a short period of time, to get our garden centre fully stocked in time for the grand opening! To do this successfully we had to draw upon skills and knowledge we had already, but also work extremely hard to develop new skills and extend our knowledge further.
Look!!!! Here we had to find the right coins to match the prices we had decided on. This made our Maths lessons good fun and for a purpose.
In our Literacy lessons we created some information leaflets for our customers.
These were …..
- The parts of a flower.
- What a plant needs to grow and stay healthy.
- Instructions for planting a bean seed successfully.
We used lots of tools to make our gifts with such care. We even tried our hand at a bit of sewing.
The morning before the grand opening we got really busy baking and preparing ‘healthy fruit kebabs’. These were a roaring success and cheap, at just 30p each.
We also had lots of generous donations of home-made baking from parents and carers, which made the café very popular!
Once we had our stock already, it was time for the grand opening and Mrs Jones kindly did the honours.
Our Garden Centre was a great success and our business venture made £80 for Wrens. We are trying to raise enough money to enable us to purchase a light box and resources to go with it. Thanks to all of our customers, we are now well on our way to achieving this!
Thank you for supporting us and we look forward to seeing you at our next event, which will be called ‘Beside the Sea’.
