When learning about forces, children in Merlins were asked to mime an action that required a push or a pull, eg. pushing a ball with your foot, in football.
This then led to a science investigation where children were able to test out the most suitable surfaces for Harry Potter (who’s been asked by Professor McGonagall, to test out the most suitable surfaces at Hogwarts for racing toy cars). This led to an interesting discussion about friction: when it’s a useful force, and when it isn’t.
