Hi everyone, I hope that you are all well.
Firstly, well done to everyone that has been logging on to ActiveLearn and to those that have been completing the activities. I can see that some of you are reading the books and doing the quizzes – fantastic work!
Also, I have already had good feedback about the online phonics lessons, so I am glad that you are enjoying those too.
In maths, we have played a game in Robins called Odd Bod and Even Steven. This helped us to learn which numbers are odd and which numbers are even.
Even numbers end in 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 regardless of how many digits they have (we know the number 5,917,624 is even because it ends in a 4!). Odd numbers end in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.
We learnt a rhyme:
0,2,4,6,8 Even numbers, well they’re just great
1,3,5,7,9, they’re the odd numbers and they’re just fine!
Using your knowledge of odd and even numbers ask your adult to shout out a number and choose one end of your garden/lounge to be Odd Bod and the other end to be Even Steven. Race between one and the other depending on whether your adult has shouted an odd or an even number.
Now, using your knowledge of odds and even numbers have a go at this sorting challenge.
BUT, if you really want a challenge then try our ‘Boats’ investigation. You could use counters, stones, or playmobil people to help you to solve it!
Still missing you all lots, Robins. Hope to see you soon. X
Thank you parents for doing a great job! Please email me if you have any queries. X
